I booked an hour relaxation massage at the student clinic. It was excellent! Very professional and relaxing! Other than the initial consultation being with two people instead of one, I couldn't tell I was being massaged by a student. At the end I was given a bottle of water and asked to fill out a short survey (5 questions) about the student. AND it was only $35!! I would recommend to all!

Great School. The really care about their students and do everything they can to help them launch their massage career. They even post job opportunities on their website!

Getting my massage training at Makami was fun. The people were really nice, I made some great friends and the workshops were really helpful, but the best part was how nice the staff was - they worked with me to help me find a massage job in my neighbourhood before I even graduated.

What mess. My clinic hours were originally scheduled for Tuesday nights, but our class was too big so half of the class (people who didn't have kids) had to have clinic AFTER a full day of school. I'd be at Makami from 9 AM to 9 PM. Exhausting. Thursdays classes were taught by other students who had no clue what was going on themselves. Our original teacher got sick for a long period of time and I dropped out before she returned. I'd cringe as people younger than me would try to teach a class. Fridays classes were the worst. Anatomy and Physiology with Hana was awesome. She is an amazing teacher and knows her stuff. Jeanine, on the other hand, would yell for hours on end and rush through lessons. I took osteology at the U of C and was appalled at just how much she was leaving out and not explaining. She would touch the surface and move on. When we would do hands on work in her class we would always move on before we had any help. We expressed our frustrations to her and she got mad at us. It was almost comical by the end, watching her yell about how evolution is a lie because, "We didn't evolve from monkeys." (I corrected her, telling her that we didn't evolve from monkeys, rather, share a common ancestor with apes. She told me there is no difference.) I studied biology at the u of c and a lot of what she said was scientifically wrong. Everybody who I have talked to has dropped out because of her. Bottom line: Save your time. It's a shiny money grab. I remember in orientation they were telling foreign students that they could make "well over" 100 000 dollars a year easily. They boast about the hourly pay but purposely do not mention that the career has an expiration date, your hands can usually last 10-15 years. Also limited hours as you don't work 8 hour days as an RMT. Smokescreens and poor education.

Make sure you look at other massage schools before enrolling into Makami. This is the most expensive school and it has the worst support network. They will lie and tell you anything just to have you sign up. Good luck putting in a complaint or trying to sit down with someone to discuss their false promise statements, they are too busy recruiting other students and just don't care.

I love MaKami college. Everyone makes you feel at home! From the staff to the students I always leave with a smile on my face and look forward to coming in again. I would and have recommend this school to anyone I speak with that are interested in becoming an RMT. There are so many resources to help you reach your goals. Don't be fooled by the negative comments on this review. Just keep in mind MaKami gives you all the tools you will need to be successful.. but you also have to put in your own time and determination.

This school Is a huge money pit. $25,000 Tuition , long field trip hours which school doesn't pay students for 8+ hours a day. Unrealistic hours given to do practicum. EVERYTHING REVOLVES AROUND MONEY, if you want to do a specific course its extra $$$. If you want to get into massage therapy don't go to makami! unless you want a ipad that they give you for signing up....

Most of the 5* reviews on here from " a Google user" are makami themselves to get a higher star rating! Terrible school complete money grab. Once you pay your tuition you become a number. Try to complain about anything and basically get told to bad.

Do your research. This school is a giant money grab and they'll pretty much say whatever you want to hear until they get your money. Also the fact that it's very obvious that all the 5 stars on here is just makami doing their own reviews to get a higher rating says a lot.

Pro: Tutors to help you learn the materials. Con: 1) over crowd class size (40~60 students/class) 2) pricy tuition/money grab 3) too many field trips that are tiring you out and promoting the school indirectly 4) very disorganized! The staff posted students’ records very late (2~3 months after exams). After graduation, you only earn approximate $30~$40 per hour if you work for someone or at massage clinics. Unless you are self-employed, the average rate in this industry is $70~$90. You probable only have a couple of clients in a day as the unemployed rate is high in Alberta and a lot of people were laid off and don’t have benefits. Don't fully trust what the ads said. The bottom line is the student loan is estimated approximate $23,000~$28,000 depending on individual family income after graduation. It will take a long time for you to pay it off.

Just graduated my second year and I have had so many issues with this school, extremely disorganized, constantly not following up on things they promised. Completely a money grab, majority of people I graduated with or people I've talked to who have graduated were not pleased with how they've been treated at MaKami. Would never recommend this school to anyone but fully recommend this career! I love being a massage therapist!

MaKami College is a prime example of what every school in the world should strive to be like. The students were very friendly, the instructors and student advisers were very understanding and every time I would enter into this school I would see such positive attitudes and kind people. Some people may or may not have had the same experience I've had there, but overall I've found that many people in this college agree that this is a wonderful place to learn, improve your skills and take your career to the next level! I want to say thank-you to MaKami College and all the staff for changing my life in such a positive way.

If you book a massage and request for a masseuse by name, there is still a good chance they will switch people on you without notice. Extremely frustrating - this has happened to me 3 times now and no apologies or efforts on the customer service end to fix the situation. I request specific people by name weeks ahead of time, and end up getting random masseuses.

Love to help people to heal. Come to Makami College. It's a great place where you can learn to get hand on training to do massages. The staffs and students are great here. The Calgary campus are spacious and the environment are positive. Come get a 1 hour massage each Wednesday evening at 5, 6:15 or 7:30 pm, the students are incredible with their hands.

Cancelled my appointment with 45 minutes notice. I was already on my way, as I had to travel a fair ways from where ideas and offered no apology or offer to keep a client happy. Buyer beware, this looks like a good deal, but this is how they seem to operate.

I found the practicum training pretty mediocre. When I tried to find a job the only place that would hire a licensed massage therapist was Spasation and they really don't pay that much I wouldn't consider that much of career. It seemed to me that most of the people that took the course ending up working at the college, but somehow I never got that chance. Even when I tried to work in massage I didn't feel confident in my skills because the course was so short and I never felt I got training that lacked professionalism.

Cancelled my massage again for the third time since I started trying to go there in the past 9 months, just because there is a little snow. Maybe they need to figure out we live in Calgary and if they want to keep clients then maybe they need to keep appointments. When you have made arrangements for child care and the time to go then you expect to be able to go. Yes something's are unavoidable I get that, but not a little snow. I guess saving grace is at least this time when they cancelled I hadn't already driven there. Poor service....
